UW alum 1985. Data processing background. Then DA in Rock County, Dane County. Now in Dept. of Regulation Licensing (doctors, real estate, etc.). Has served as an ALJ. Supreme Court panelist for attorney discipline cases (referee); this is a panel of about 30 attorneys around the state. He handles 2-3 cases/year.
Midterm and final are same format: T/F, multiple choice, fill in blank. Not big essays. Can use rules, but not book, etc.
Goals: working knowledge of where to find, how to interpret rules. Ethics opinions by state bar, disciplinary cases. Ability to apply the rules to real-life situations. Common ethical problems. Insight into the way we handle our own personal ethical issues.
Every class: review worksheet. Three important points. This can be sent 24 hours in advance (and therefore not bring paper).
